The Bible says...
Man at his best state is all together vanity (empty).
There is none righteous, no not one.
All have sinned (including you).
Not of works of righteousness that we have done.
Not of works, lest any man should boast (brag).
Friend, after reading these verses, I hope you see that it's going to be tough—really tough—trying to convince God to let you into Heaven by your good works, especially since He said you won't. The truth is...
...Good Deeds
Baptism
Communion
Confirmation
Attending Mass
Penance
Giving
and
Charity...
...cannot save your soul nor take you to Heaven.
There is no other way to say it. If you believe they will, you are simply...
Not even keeping God's commandments can save you. They were given to show us how sinful we are, not to keep in order to go to Heaven. Want proof?
"And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me." (Romans 7:10 and 11)
The problem, my Friend, is that no one is able to keep the commandments. In fact, no one but One ever did: The Lord Jesus Christ. He obeyed God's Commandments perfectly and never sinned. He willingly paid for our sins, when He died in our place, on Calvary's Cross. What good news to every sinner. What good news for you and me!
The Lord offers Eternal Life to all who will accept His free gift of Salvation.
"...The Gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ...." Romans 6:23b
Six times in four verses, the Bible calls what Jesus did, when He paid for our sins, a gift...
"...the free gift..."
"...the gift by grace..."
"...the gift..."
"...the free gift..."
"...the gift..."
"...the free gift..."
Romans 5:15-19
Dear Jesus, I admit, I am a sinner, on my way to Hell. I'm sorry for sinning against You. I cease to rely on myself, my church, my religion or anything that I might do to save me. By faith, I now receive You as my personal Saviour. I am fully trusting the blood that You shed on the cross as payment for ALL my sin. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me. Amen.
